Knitting Content

Mixed Berry Prayer Shawl
It has been awhile since I have posted any real knitting content.  I finished a Prayer Shawl, using Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn (worsted weight) in the color "Mixed Berry".   I have the next Prayer Shawl on the needles.  The other on-the-needles project is the Wingspan Shawl from Ravelry.

LB Homespun "Spice"

I knitted a couple of hats for my grandson, Darius.  They are a perfect fit and he has already worn them both so Grandma will cast on for another.

More From Our Weekend with Darius

Building with Mega blocks
This is amazing.  After several months of quiet on the blog, I am back with some posts.  One of these days, I will have some knitting, reading or cooking content, but for now it is all about our Little Dumpling.  Being a Grandma is such a wonderful experience.  I am loving every minute I spend with this little boy.  His Momma and Daddy are so good to share him with us.  I am blessed to be such a big part of his life.  He is a joy to be around.  Here are a few photos from this past weekend, with captions by Darius.
More giggling with my Grandpa.
When I laugh, my whole body is part of the laugh.

Please, Grandpa, may I have those keys?
I am ready to back up.  Watch out folks!

Giggling with Grandpa

Darius and his Grandpa love to laugh together.  They take turns getting the other one started, but once it starts, they can go for awhile.  Don't worry; my camera video feature takes short clips only.  Here is a snippet of Darius and Grandpa laughing, giggling, and squealing.  Music to my ears!

Darius Update

It has been awhile since I last updated the blog and I'll still need to update with some knitting content another time.  For now, this is a Darius update.  Today I had a fabulous time spending the day with Darius while Emily was with her class on an all-day field trip to the zoo.

Darius is changing so quickly.  He is such a happy baby and so full of energy, curiosity, and a zest for life.  Two weeks ago, while Emily was here visiting with Darius, he discovered he could sit himself up with no help.  Since then, he has mastered crawling and pulling himself up to stand.  Pulling himself up to stand is a favorite activity and he practiced LOTS today by pulling up on my t-shirt.  Here he is playing his little piano.

He is a real cheeser for the camera.

Playing With Grandpa

Darius and Grandpa had fun playing with his little Monkey toy.  We love those little squeals and smiles!

He Keeps Getting Cuter

As if it is possible, Darius keeps getting cuter, more fun, and smarter.  We sent him a Valentine card and expected that, like most 6 month olds, he would put it in his mouth.  Imagine our surprise when Emily sent us this photo of Darius reading his card.   Now, he is not only the world's cutest grandchild, he is also the smartest.
Darius loves to play.  One of his favorite toys is his ring stacker.  He takes the rings off one-by-one and then tries to eat the middle part.
Darius also has a Grandpa who loves him.

Two FO's and More Cuteness

Darius has a new hat.  I used the same pattern for his earlier hats (Very Basic Baby Beanie), but this time added one inch to the length.  This past Friday, I brought the hat to his house and tried it on him.  He was less than excited about his new hat, but it will keep his head warm during these cold winter months.   Here is Darius modeling the hat.   (Seriously, Grandma, we are in the house and I am busy playing in my excersaucer.)
I also finished a scarf for me.  Details in an earlier blog post.

Enough knitting.  Time to end with a little more cuteness, provided by Darius.

First Post of 2012 - Knitting Content & Cuteness

As promised, the first post of 2012 has some knitting content.  I have several projects on the needles.  I enjoy knitting for a Prayer Shawl Ministry so I always have a prayer shawl on the needles.  The current one, I'm sorry to say, has not progressed very much.  I do enjoy knitting this pattern, Ribbon-Trimmed Shawl, from THE PRAYER SHAWL COMPANION.  I make them without the ribbons.  If you were to scroll through some of my blog posts in past years, you would see several finished prayer shawls using this pattern.   Also, in this photo, is a scarf I am knitting using two strands of Caron's Simply Soft (Autumn Red) and a size 11 needle.  The pattern is found here:

I have a hat for Darius on the needles.  I hope to finish the hat this week and get it to him.  He is still wearing the hats I knitted for him when he was born and they fit his head around, but the ribbing cannot be turned up any more.  They still work, but a nice new gray hat is in order.  I am still using the Very Basic Baby Beanie pattern found on this website:

I am also knitting a scarf for myself with some DK weight hand dyed superwash wool by String Theory of Blue Hill, Maine.  The color is "Ruby Slipper".  I bought this yarn a couple of years ago at the Michigan Fiber Fest in Allegan, MI.  The pattern I am using is the cover pattern of the Winter 2011 KNIT SIMPLE magazine.  The pattern is written for a shawl/wrap.  I cast on less stitches to make a scarf.  I love how this is working up and am anxious to have it around my neck.

Yesterday, I spent the day with Darius.  He is such a happy baby and so much fun to be around.  He loves his Jumperoo.
